DAILY HAMPSHIRE GAZETTE: Campaign Notebook: Domb takes stand on migrant children issue

AMHERST — Mindy Domb, a Democratic candidate for the 3rd Hampshire District seat, is calling on Gov. Charlie Baker to identify U.S. Department of Health and Human Services shelters in Massachusetts where migrant and refugee children separated from their parents are being detained.

“I call on Governor Baker to disclose if children are being sheltered in the commonwealth who were recently forcibly removed from the custody of their parents,” Domb said in a statement. “The residents of the commonwealth deserve to know if we are assisting in the implementation of this immoral policy of family separation.”

Massachusetts is one of 17 states where the possibility exists that children separated from their parents at the United States-Mexico border are being housed.

“Our power is in refusing to uphold depraved and inhumane policies and making sure our state does not comply with requests that make us complicit,” Domb said.

Domb is competing against Eric Nakajima for the position that represents Amherst, Pelham and Precinct 1 in Granby. The winner will face incumbent Solomon Goldstein-Riose, I-Amherst, in the November general election.
